Game MastersMythForge

Terms of Service

The short version

Buy MythForge, use it to run your games. What you create stays yours. Don’t publish things to the Vault you have no right to publish, and don’t expect us to be liable for how a dice roll went. The rest is detail.

1. Who you’re dealing with

MythForge is made by Game Masters (“we”, “us”). These terms apply when you use the app or this site. If you don’t agree with them, don’t use MythForge.

2. Your licence

MythForge is a one-time purchase from the App Store. That buys you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on the devices your Apple account allows. Your purchase is handled by Apple under their terms, and refunds are theirs to give. We can’t issue them.

You may not resell the app, or copy, decompile, or reverse-engineer it except where law says you may regardless of what a contract says.

3. Accounts

MythForge works without an account. An optional free account unlocks the Vault and cloud backups. You’re responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@mythforge.app if you think it’s been used without your say-so.

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time: Camp, then Account, then Delete account. It is immediate and irreversible.

4. Your content, and the Vault

The monsters, NPCs, items, spells, campaigns, and notes you make are yours. We claim no ownership of them.

When you publish something to the Vault, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute it to other MythForgeusers, for as long as it stays published. You also grant other users the right to pull a copy into their own library and use it in their games. This licence exists only so the Vault can function.

Unpublishing removes it from the Vault going forward. Copies other Game Masters have already pulled into their own libraries live on their devices, and we cannot reach in and take them back, so publish accordingly.

By publishing, you confirm the content is yours to publish and doesn’t infringe anyone else’s rights.

5. Acceptable use

Don’t use MythForge to:

6. Moderation

You can report published content from inside the app. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these terms. We aim to be fair and proportionate about it, but the Vault is a shared space and we’ll err on the side of protecting it.

7. Other people’s rights

Monster, spell, and item data comes from the 5.1 and 5.2 System Reference Documents (5.2 via Open5e), used under CC BY 4.0. Dungeons & Dragons is a trademark of Wizards of the Coast LLC. MythForge is an independent work, neither affiliated with nor endorsed by Wizards of the Coast.

8. Changes to the app

We ship updates, including over-the-air ones, and features may change or be withdrawn. The Vault and cloud backups are online services and may be unavailable from time to time. Your local library doesn’t depend on them. It stays on your device.

Backups are a convenience, not a guarantee. Keep your own copies of anything you can’t bear to lose.

9. No warranty

MythForge is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don’t promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its rules computations will suit every table. You’re the Game Master; the final call is always yours.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost content. Where liability can’t be excluded, it is limited to what you paid for the app.

Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot legally be limited.

11. Ending things

You can stop using MythForge whenever you like and delete your account from the app. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms. Sections 4, 7, 9, 10, and 12 survive.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the courts of that province have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections in your own country.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top says when. Material changes will be flagged in the app or on this site; continuing to use MythForge after a change means you accept it.
